Located on the DR’s central north coast, Ambar Estate is within the authentically slower and more laid back rural countryside.

While situated among smaller towns and agricultural villages, the sprawling property is also minutes away from some of the country’s finest beaches, excellent surfing and kite surfing spots, and a Trent Jones clifftop golf course resembling Pebble Beach.

Location

The Dominican Republic is blessed with some of the most beautiful, multiple waterfalls in the world and this is unique experience is one of the most popular with our guests. Starting at the top, explore each different level of the falls by either rappelling or sliding down. For those that do not wish to rappel, there are relaxed “walk arounds” the repelling sections, that also take in the stunning scenery then re-join to the group below.

The trip starts with a couple of easy jumps before you come upon the highlight of the day, the Magic Mushroom itself. Two intense rappels are followed by some great jumps.

For adrenaline junkies the second rappel can be jumped and at 15m/45ft is enough for most people! Top guides and instruction with full safety gear included. Bring tennis or river shoes, swimsuit, some towel and dry clothes.

Sprawling over 180 acres of picturesque coastline, the world-class Playa Grande Golf Course, designed by celebrated architect Robert Trent Jones, Sr. and recently renovated by his son Rees Jones, is known as “the Pebble Beach of the Caribbean” by the golf community. With 10 holes playing directly on the ocean, this 7,085-yard course winds along the coastline, providing amazingly open vistas, cliff-side fairways, and sloping greens. With respect for the legacy created by his father, world-renowned golf designer Rees Jones has directed the renovation of the Playa Grande Golf Course and has enhanced the experience to challenge golfers at every skill level.

Boat cruise
Another highlight of the Dominican Republic: explore the beautiful, lush northern coastline visiting pristine beaches, natural pools and a swamp cave. Stop at Gri Gri Lagoon to explore the caves and swim hole. Follow the coastal verdant mountains to secluded bays only accessible by boat, to snorkel and swim in the turquoise waters.

Deep sea fishing
State-of-the-art fish finding equipment including 14ft beam, depth finder, GSP, top-of-the-line fishing gear, fly bridge, fishing chair and highly experienced captain and crew. Just a short 15 minute boat ride to the fishing stations and trawling sites, where you will find tuna, dorado, marlin & wahoo. Bottom fishing; grouper, snapper, jacks

Silver banks fishing
One of the premier fishing areas of the Caribbean, rich in marine life, 80 miles north of the coastline.

Fully licensed Padi Dive Centre offers 2 dives
12 Dive Sites in the area; approx. 15-20 mins away by boat. Divers will typically see hard coral, lobster, eels, crab and schools of tropical fish. On occasion, eagle ray and dolphins.
One dive site; overhang cave. Visibility ranging from 15-20 meters and weather dependent.

Children’s program
For children ages 5 and above, the children’s activity coordinator helps to arrange a wide range of activities based on age and interests. During the pre-arrival planning process, they work with guests to design a custom program incorporating the interests and desires or their children. Up to 4 hours per day or night for up to 2 children are complimentary. Supervision and care for addition hours or additional children is charged at US$15 per hour.
